En-Suite Installations explained
What it is
An en-suite is a bathroom connected to a bedroom, usually with a shower, toilet and basin. We install new en-suites and replace tired ones, fitting everything from the pipework to the finishing touches.
Who it's for
Homeowners who want to take pressure off the family bathroom, couples wanting their own space, and anyone whose existing en-suite is dated, leaking or awkward to use.
When you need it
When the morning queue for the bathroom is a daily problem, when an old en-suite shower is leaking or losing pressure, or when you're updating the main bedroom.
Why it pays to get it right
En-suites are usually small, so every decision matters: where the shower goes, which way the door opens, how water drains. A well-planned en-suite feels spacious; a badly planned one feels cramped and leaks.
If it's left
What waiting
really costs
Shower leaks reach the bedroom
A failing shower tray or seal in an en-suite often leaks into the bedroom carpet or the ceiling below. The longer it runs, the more you'll pay to repair the damage.
Poor ventilation and damp
Small rooms build up moisture quickly. Old, worn en-suites often show mould around seals and on ceilings.
Wasted space
Badly placed fittings make a small room feel unusable. Re-planning the layout can make the same footprint far more practical.
A dated room lets the bedroom down
If you've updated the bedroom, an old en-suite stands out every time the door is open.
Common mistakes
- ×Buying a shower enclosure before checking the room's dimensions and door swing.
- ×Assuming a small room means a small budget, compact rooms still need the same core work.
- ×Not thinking about where waste pipework will run.
- ×Leaving tile choice until the last minute.
How it works
Our process,
step by step
01
Free quote visit
Scott comes out to your home, measures up and talks through the layout with you. He'll tell you honestly what will work with the space, where the pipework can and can't go, and what will give you the best result for your budget.
02
Fixed-price quote
You receive a fixed price for the installation. That price doesn't creep up halfway through. If something unforeseen turns up once the old bathroom is stripped out, we stop and talk it through with you before any extra work goes ahead.
03
Options and samples
Once you've accepted the quote, Laura sends over options for you to choose from. Depending on your selections, a home visit with samples follows, for example flooring options or aqua panels, so you can see them in your own light before anything is ordered.
04
Installation by the same team
Scott carries out the work with the same trusted team he uses on every job. Laura keeps you updated on what's happening and when, and the space is left clean and tidy at the end of each day.
05
Handover and guarantee
Everything is checked and run before we leave. Your installation is backed by our 2-year workmanship guarantee, and manufacturer warranties apply to the products themselves.
What you get
Why choose Harrison's
A price you can plan around
Fixed-price installations mean you know what the bathroom will cost before a single tile comes off the wall.
You're never left chasing
Laura handles bookings, samples and ordering, and keeps you informed at every stage, one of the things our reviews mention most.
Consistent workmanship
Scott has 20 years on the tools and works with the same trusted team on every job, so standards don't change from one day to the next.
Peace of mind afterwards
Every installation carries a 2-year workmanship guarantee, and we're fully insured.
Your suite, your choice
We can supply your bathroom suite, or fit one you've already chosen. Tiles are sourced by you, so you have full control over the look.
A tidy home during the work
The space is cleaned up at the end of each day, something customers like Robert Moreland have called out in their reviews.
In detail
Everything to know about
en-suite installations
Planning a compact space
Scott will look at where the existing water supply and waste run, the position of the door and window, and how you'll use the room. From that, he'll advise the layout that gives you the most usable space.
Compact solutions such as space-saving basins, wall-hung toilets and well-sized shower enclosures can all be discussed at the quote visit.
New en-suite or replacement
Replacing an existing en-suite is usually the simplest route because the pipework is already in place. A brand-new en-suite in a bedroom needs more planning, particularly around drainage, and Scott will explain what's involved before you commit.
Either way, the installation is quoted at a fixed price and any unforeseen work is discussed with you first.
Showers that suit you
Most en-suites are built around a shower. Whether you'd like a walk-in enclosure, a quadrant or a simple cubicle, Scott will advise what fits best and what will drain properly.
If you'd prefer a level-access floor, our wet room page covers that option in more detail.
Supply and finishes
We can supply the en-suite suite, or fit one you've chosen yourself. Tiles are sourced by the customer, and alternatives like aqua panels or flooring options can be shown at a samples visit depending on your selections.
Keeping the bedroom clean and usable
Because an en-suite opens straight onto a bedroom, tidiness during the work matters even more. The space is left clean and tidy at the end of each day, something customers regularly mention in our reviews.
Laura will keep you updated on what's happening and when, so you can plan around the work rather than being left guessing.
Ventilation in small rooms
Small en-suites build up moisture quickly, which leads to mould on ceilings and around seals. Ventilation is worth discussing at the quote visit so the new room stays fresh long after it's finished.
Local to Chesterfield and North East Derbyshire
Harrison's is based in Chesterfield and has been trading since January 2021. We work across the town and the surrounding area, including Staveley, Brimington, Wingerworth, Dronfield, Bolsover, Clay Cross, North Wingfield, Eckington, Killamarsh, Matlock and Alfreton.
Being local means the person who quotes your job is the person who turns up to do it, and the business answering your call is run by Scott and Laura themselves, not a call centre. It's also why so many of our customers come back, and why we hold a 100% recommendation rating from 38 Facebook reviews.
We're a Derbyshire Trusted Trader and fully insured, with both public liability and employers liability cover in place. If you'd like to check that we cover your street, or you're not sure whether your job is something we can help with, call Scott on 07463 793992 or send the quote form and Laura will get back to you.
Your guarantee and product warranties
Every installation is backed by our 2-year workmanship guarantee. That covers the work we carry out, the fitting, the connections and the finish, so if something we've installed isn't right, we come back and put it right.
Bathroom products such as taps, showers, toilets and furniture also carry their own manufacturer warranties. These vary from product to product. If a product fails under its warranty, we'll organise the replacement for you; the labour to fit the replacement is charged. Scott will explain this clearly when you choose your products, so you know where you stand before anything is ordered.
Supplying your own products
Plenty of customers already know exactly which bath, shower or vanity unit they want. You're welcome to supply your own suite and we'll fit it, or we can supply it for you, whichever is easier.
Tiles are always sourced by the customer. If you're choosing tiles, it's worth doing so early in the process so they're ready in good time. Alternatives such as aqua panels and different flooring options can be shown at a samples visit depending on your selections.
Paying for your bathroom
Quotes are free. Installations are quoted at a fixed price, so the figure you agree to is the figure you plan around. If something unforeseen turns up, for example, damage hidden behind an old bath panel, we'll show you and discuss it before going ahead.
You can pay by card (credit or debit), bank transfer or cash.
